Giovanni Albini studied Composition at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Milan, the Conservatory of Lugano, and the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, with Mario Garuti, Paul Glass, and Ivan Fedele. He also got an MS in Mathematics and a diploma in Classical Guitar. His scores have won several composition prizes and have been performed by international soloists, ensembles, and orchestras: the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, Giulio Tampalini, Duo46, Avi Avital, Vancouver Miniaturist Ensemble, Concordia C(h)ordis, the BBC SSO String Quartet, and Algoritmo Ensemble, among others.

He has written several tracks for video art, multimedia, videogames, commercials and television, collaborating with acclaimed artists such as the fashion sound designer Matteo Ceccarini and video artists Jacopo Rovida and Chiara Dynys. His tracks have been used by international brands like BMW, Lazard, and TSI. His theoretical researches focus on Mathematical Music Theory and its application to Composition. On the topic, he has given several lectures at Yale University (MCM2009), Lithuanian Union of Composers, Università degli Studi di Milano, Università IULM.

In 2008 and 2009 he took part in the soundSCAPE Festival Composition Faculty. He writes for the ‘Intelligence and Lifestyle’ Italian magazine (ilsole24ore). He teaches Harmony in Pavia at the Vittadini Institute of Music and is the Artistic Director of the highSCORE Festival. [official website]
