Jacopo Bigi studied with Giulio Franzetti, Oleksandr Semchuk, Aldo Campagnari, Simone Bernardini, attended masterclasses with Thomas Brandis, Florian Zwiauer, and Francesco Manara. He entered the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (OGI) of Fiesole, performing the role of Concertmaster. He works with I Pomeriggi Musicali, Orchestra Verdi, Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, I Solisti di Pavia, Camerata Strumentale di Prato, being directed by prestigious conductors as Jeffrey Tate, Eliahu Inbal, Roberto Abbado, Gabriele Ferro, Krzystof Penderecki, Yaniv Dinur, accompanying world class solo players like Accardo, Repin, Quarta, Belkin, Manara, Ughi, Braconi, Canino, Ballista, Lucchesini, De Maria, Jin Ju, Lortie, Jian Wang, Filippini, Dindo, Bronzi.

He plays in the most important concert halls in Italy, Germany (Konzerthaus, Berlin), Switzerland (Kleine Tonhalle Saal, Zuerich), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka), Chile (Teatro Municipal, Santiago del Cile), Argentina (Teatro Colòn, Buenos Aires), Brazil, Spain (Teatro Real, Madrid), California (UC Berkeley's CNMAT). He recorded a monographic CD about Stefano Gervasoni and participated in Giovani per tutti at Lingotto in Turin, on air on Radio Rai 3. He premieres and performs music by Luca Francesconi, Adriano Guarnieri, Carlo Boccadoro, Paolo Arcà, Sivan Eldar, and Giovanni Verrando. He plays with the RepertorioZero electric ensemble, participating in the Festival Musica d’Oggi of Lugano and the Tage fuer Neue Musik in Zurich (Switzerland). As First Violin with the Fragmente String Quartet he has been awarded several prizes. He performed Steve Reich's ‘Different Trains’ with Quartetto Prometeo, with the composer as Sound Engineer.
